Gendered violence continues to impact women, girl children, and LGBTQI+ persons, leaving lasting psychological, emotional, and spiritual wounds. Within faith communities, systemic structures often silence Black women and LGBTQI+ individuals, preventing them from voicing their experiences of pain and injustice. This article explores the intersection of gender, sexuality, and faith, highlighting the transformative work of Inclusive and Affirming Ministries in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Gender, Religion and Health programme. Through embodied facilitation—using storytelling, art, and contextual Bible study—this approach reimagines pastoral care as a space for healing, deep listening, and social justice. By challenging patriarchal theology and advocating for inclusive pastoral support, this work aims to redefine liberation theology and create meaningful change.
