As IAM celebrates 30 years of being a constructive religious voice in Africa, we spoke to some of our cherished friends and allies who have partnered with the organisation over the years.
This week, we hear from Dr Robert Steiner – Minister at Rondebosch United Church.
“Dear IAM,
there is no journey as demanding as patience
no provision as lasting as love
no direction as certain as justice
no destination as worthy as contentment

Warmest congratulations to celebrating 30 years of ministry. We are most grateful for the way you have journeyed with Rondebosch United Church for more than 20 years, helping us to become a faith community that is welcoming and affirming of LGBTIQ+ people.
A more recent milestone was converting our toilet facility into gender neutral restrooms, creating a space that is inclusive and provides privacy for all users. We remain committed to offer a safer and more welcoming environment by removing the need to conform to binary gender norms.
Thank you for all the encouragement along the way!
Dr Robert Steiner (Minister of Rondebosch United Church)“
